Requirements

The financial pressure on hospitals increased over the last years. Because of that it is getting even more important to optimise internal processes. Up to now the doctors used to work with a printed version of drug lists. Unfortunately the list was often already out-of-date straight after printing and therefore had to be edited manually.

Solution

The decision to choose Intrexx Professional was made. The decisive factors were mainly the easy and fast configuration and the possibility to integrate foreign data from an Enterprise Resource Planning System. This was used to build up an electronic drugs list. In this application one can find all the drugs used by the hospital network. The drugs data is received from the ERP System OPALE which is connected via JDBC to Intrexx Professional. It is now possible to display the drugs information filtered by name, active ingredient or Anatomical Therapeutic Chemi-cal Classification System (ATC). This offers comfortable options to the doctors: They can request the exact dose of an active ingredient as well as pharma code, availability and price. Especially the selection filtered by active ingredient is a good base for decisions. Besides the original drug also all the generics including the same active ingredient are shown. Sectors like patient administration, invoicing, human resources and IT are now centralised and handled by Intrexx Professional.
