In the past, the decentralised design of NLWKN presented the state office with the challenge of supplying all of the employees with the necessary information. At the end of 2005, they were therefore looking for a solution that would allow for quick and uncomplicated acquisition and processing of information. In addition, the employees had to be able to use the software to place information in the system by themselves and create their own applications, in order to simplify the internal processes of the state office.
Solution
NLWKN was soon convinced that their ambitious goals would be best implemented using Intrexx Professional portal software. Above all, the software’s efficient information management was very convincing. The employee portal has now been in use since the beginning of 2007, and most of the 1,200 employees of NLWKN are connected to it, with the branch offices using VPN access. All relevant information reaches even the most remote locations of the state office quickly and without complication. Employees are enthused by the virtually unlimited possibilities of the Intrexx portal, because they simplify internal workflows considerably. Activity recording is now done online, with each employee posting his/her work time to the various cost centres and cost units. The respective cost centres can now be conveniently accessed via dropdown menu, which replaces the previously arduous process of picking them out by hand. Moreover, the ready-to-use weekly reports are now automatically sent to the responsible supervisor, and after having been approved, they are forwarded to the SQL server of NLWKN. Other typical processes of the state office, such as application procedures, file management or announcements, were also simplified by the portal. Whereas previously the employees had to enter everything by hand in the relevant Excel spreadsheets, today this is all done automatically, thereby saving a lot of time and paper.
