A portal for teachers and students
The Friedrich Weinbrenner Vocational School (FWG) is located in the centre of
Freiburg, Germany and integrates the four faculties “Stone”, ”Construction”,
”Wood” and “Painting”. In different courses students are trained to become bricklayers,
carpenters and constructional engineers either part- or fulltime.

Efficient distribution of information is very important in the area of education.
Personnel communication is difficult and time-consuming in a school with a big
council and a spaciously school area with several faculty rooms. The FWG wanted
to solve this problem with a web based intranet which simultaneously improves
the communication between several schools in the Freiburg region.
Solution
After the evaluation of several products the school decided in favour of Intrexx
Xtreme. The user-friendly and self-explanatory handling of Intrexx gave the teachers
the idea to use the software for more than just an external use. They also
wanted to implement an internal communication and administration platform.
For more than 3 years Intrexx visualised different parts of daily school business
such as timetables, education and training offers and internal workflows. Teachers
are delighted in using the portal. They organise their internal work cycles
online with applications e.g. the school calendar, room reservations or an overview
of all the school events. An organiser supports the teachers on projects and
other events. To-do-lists handle the time management within projects as well as
the preparation of exhibitions or ecological tasks. The school portal also offers the
possibility for teachers to update on trainings and also register online directly.
Students can receive information about several professions taught at the Friedrich
Weinbrenner Vocational School. They may also access e.g. their training
manuals from their home pc.
