Requirements

In 2005, the company was looking for a Web-based solution to optimally manage customer and employee data and to optimise internal work processes. In addi-tion, this solution also had to be able to integrate data from the SAP-based ERP system in order to simplify internal work processes.

Solution

After analysing various products, FES finally decided on the sector-neutral Intrexx Professional portal software. There were various reasons why the scales tipped in favour of Intrexx. What impressed the FES the most was the software’s precisely definable authorisation structure, the cost/performance ratio, and numerous ready-to-use application templates that allow for a quick introduction to the system. The employees of FES GmbH enjoy working with the Intrexx portal be-cause the Intrexx user interface is clearly structured and the software is extremely intuitive to use. The linking of Intrexx and SAP is an important part of the system. This works with the assistance of a business adapter with which data can be trans-ferred between SAP and Intrexx in both directions. In this fashion, various work processes in the company will be optimised in the future. Recording work times for employees is one workflow that is to be alleviated by the teamwork of Intrexx and SAP. This is usually done at FES using the time clock. Whereas previously the data had been automatically entered in Intrexx and manually transferred from Intrexx to SAP at the end of the workflow, in the future this work step will occur automatically with the help of the business adapter. This method will also make it easier to edit incorrectly entered work times. Now, when an employee forgets to sign in or out, he or she can add this in Intrexx and the data will be automatically corrected in SAP. This way it is possible to save a lot of work time, which can then be used to perform other tasks. SAP data will also be integrated in the portal for container management. In the future, customers will be able to access all of the data of their container order – such as rental price and order status – even from home.
