Requirements
In 2005, the company's address database had reached its limits due to insufficient scalability, while the required adjustments were simply too costly for the manufacturer. The company began looking for an alternative solution and found it in the cross-industry portal software Intrexx. Unlike the old address database, Intrexx was adapted to the needs of alutec Metallwaren quickly and easily.
Solution
Having opted for Intrexx, alutec began integrating its data into the new Intranet portal. The changeover to the new system could be completed within a very short time and worked flawlessly. As the Intrexx portal is extremely easy to use, there was hardly any staff training required. Thanks to the range of applications provided by the portal, processes within the company are significantly simpler now. For example, one of the applications on the portal can be used to evaluate production figures promptly. The production data of the more than 50 machines in operation are simply entered into the system at the end of a shift, where they are then displayed in a clear overview. In this way, the sales department can always see what quantities of a product can be delivered immediately. It also means that possible production problems can be recognized and resolved very fast. In addition to that, business card orders and overtime approvals can also be processed quickly and easily on the Intranet now. The employee simply enters all required data in a portal application. Subsequently, the data is automatically sent to the responsible manager, and, once approved, transferred to the purchasing or HR department. To secure employees' acceptance of the new system from the very start, the administrators also satisfied the employees' wish to be able to start a phone call by simply mouse-clicking a telephone number on the Intranet.
